 Don’t know why I didn’t tell everyone about this great place to get bargain books! Not sure this is the section to place this post but since my main reason has to do with books about dogs–although there are many subjects this place has books about, thought I’d give this section a ‘go’! I have ordered for years from this place. You have no worry about fraud and even if you order books and you don’t like them–In big letters on front of the catalog: OUR GUARANTEE–You must be satisfied with any item purchased from this catalog or return it for a full refund. No questions asked.
Now I don’t use the net to order anything–no way I am putting my credit card on the internet. I order thru their catalog. The postage is $3.50 period no matter how many books you order –THIS IS WHEN YOU ORDER THRU THE CATALOG. I notice on the internet way of ordering that you have to pay an extra 40 cents for each book ordered! Now this place is a clearing house for books so there are a lot of older books but also some are pretty recent and price is decent on most. Am going to give 2 links—1 for the home page and 1 for the section on dogs. I would suggest (even if you order from the net) that you send for a catalog–There is a place on this site to do that. The reason I say that is because I notice in my recent catalog that there are many titles that aren’t on the site. Example: The Complete Home Veterinary Guide, Third Edition by Chris C Pinney (819 pages–paperbound–Published at $29.95–now $7.95 and # to order(in the catalog anyway–7500886. Another: The Merck/Merial Manuel for Pet Health, Home Edition by Cynthia M. Kahn et al. (1345 pgs.–Paperbound–Published at $22.95–now $15.95. (# of this book for ordering(catalog anyway)-6327168. And hey!-If you have the catalog in hand or get a title from the net site –You can put title of book and author in your browser and prob. find out more info about the book. There are 116 pages of books listed in my latest catalog with about 35 titles (and small description) on each page. And if you get a catalog I suggest you look at it right away and order too right away as these books go fast and some might be in short supply! I much like their catalog over the site for finding books. Anyway here are the links:

EdwardRHamilton.com

EdwardRHamilton.com Don’t know why I can’t get you to the pages on dogs here BUT if you put just the word-dogs- in the box they give you for search–It will bring up the dog books. Now only use that 1 word —Do not add the word books!!! :D

Hey this is weird!! The 2 links are the same words but it does bring you to 2 dif. pages I want to give you!! How strange is that! Try them both!

Note: Does anybody know of this place besides me?!

Dog Training: Recognizing, Preventing, and Handling Dog Aggression

March 18, 2010

A dog is an instinctively aggressive creature. In the wild, aggression came in very handy: dogs needed aggression to hunt, to defend themselves from other creatures, and to defend resources such as food, a place to sleep, and a mate. Selective breeding over the centuries has minimized and refined this trait significantly, but there’s just [...]

Why do dogs jump up onto something when we pat on the object?

March 17, 2010

I’ve never understood this- why do some dogs automatically think to jump up onto something when a human pats their hand on the object?
Why do people automatically assume the dog will do it (some dogs do not)? Why do we “pat the seat” to entice a dog to sit in a certain spot?
