This year is the year of the dog in China, so why not make it the year for your dog? Since your dog relies on you for so much, make sure 2006 is a happy, healthy year for your furry friend.
How easy it is to get caught up in the day-to-day tasks that need to be done around your home and workplace and forget about your dog. He needs your attention, too. He probably is not that demanding on your time and attention but would love for you to take him on a walk around the neighborhood or to the local park. How about throwing the ball in the backyard for a few minutes? If he is anything like my black lab, he would love a ride in the car to the grocery store and back hanging his ears out the car window (Be sure the weather conditions are appropriate for leaving your dog in the car). Or how about a new toy to play with or a gourmet treat from the local pet store? These are all small things that can be done in a matter of minutes that make a lasting impression on your pet's physical and mental well-being.
Since you are making this the year for your dog, make sure you take him to the veterinarian's office for yearly shots and an overall physical. Have the veterinarian check out your dog's teeth and dental health, too. Be aware of the current health snapshot of your dog. so you will notice any changes should they occur. Make sure you give any needed medications as directed and complete the entire dosing to ensure your dog receives the maximum benefit.
If he looks good, he'll feel good! Keep your pet bathed and groomed. If his coat is clean and shiny, your dog will feel like a million bucks!
Small gestures make all the difference in a dog's well-being and may also save your peace of mind each time you leave him alone. If your dog receives adequate attention and exercise from you he may be less likely to be destructive at home when you are gone.
Make 2006 a great year for you and your dog!Dog Articles » Dog Care
