Amazon.com Review
Ideal for the chemically sensitive or those with small children, the Bissell Steam Mop deep-cleans hard-surface floors using the power of pure water alone. No harsh (or expensive) cleaners means no fumes or residues to irritate lungs or muddy delicate finishes, while the use of hot steam rather than buckets of water leaves floors dry in just seconds. Heated and ready to use in 30 seconds, the remarkably quiet mechanism works something like an iron: steam is dispensed on demand, rather than continuously, by pressing the trigger while passing the mop over the floor. Hot steam easily removes hardened and sticky gunk, especially if the mop sits over the mess for a few seconds. (Leave it in place 15 seconds to actually sanitize the cleaning surface.) The machine steams for approximately 15 minutes before the tank needs to be refilled, but there's no lag once you refill it. p The Steam Mop's low-profile 360-degree swiveling head accesses hard-to-reach nooks and crannies, like under kitchen cabinets, while its compact profile stores easily in small spaces. Other thoughtful design touches include a quick-release cord wrap and easy-carry handle, as well as a built-in water filter to protect from the minerals and impurities in hard water. (An indicator lets users know when the filter need to be replaced.) Durable, reusable microfiber pads are safe on all sealed hard surfaces and clean up nicely in the washing machine, making them more environmentally friendly than disposable options. Measuring 6 by 11 by 45-1/2 inches, the Bissell Steam Mop weighs less than 7 pounds and is covered by a one-year limited warranty.I--Mary Park/I

5 out of 5 stars Highly Recommend this product   November 21, 2008
We got this steam mop several months ago. We use it frequently on our tile flooring. It cleans great. It gets up stains well. There's no chemical smell after cleaning but it's obviously clean. I recommend getting extra floor pads and not putting them in the dryer because they may shrink. It's a great product and well worth the money.

3 out of 5 stars Lots to like   November 19, 2008

I purchased the Bissell to replace another name brand that stopped working after 4 uses. We have tons of tile in our home so steam cleaning makes sense, but having to buy equipment all the time doesn't make sense. I've now used the Bissell two times and it works really well! The swivel head is a "must have" and the pads are really plush and easy to clean. It works well, but unlike my other brand, the floors stay wet for a few minutes after they're cleaned which tells me the heater is not hot enough to sanitize the floors. If sanitizing was important, I might want another brand. But for week-to-week cleaning, durability, ease of operation and no leaking, I'll take this Bissell any day!

4 out of 5 stars Bamboo floors seem to LOVE it!   November 18, 2008

I have done many things to keep my bamboo floor looking as good as new! I live in a very rural area and there is a lot of dirt brought in. This is by far the easiest and most effective method I have used! I seemed to be replacing sponge mop heads every three weeks... otherwise I was pushing dirt around :( I used this with the steam over an area, then went over the area again without steam. Section by section. No streaking! No excess water! Only complaint is the short cord!!! Please keep in mind this is my first time using the product, but I am very satisfied with the results!!!

3 out of 5 stars Not what I expected   November 16, 2008

I kept hearing about steam 'mops' and had to have one. I guess this one is okay if you are looking for something like a mop but you don't wring it out. I apparently used way too much steam and soaked the pad. It didn't work too well after that and I had to replace the pad. Next time I used it I used little steam and it cleaned. I will keep using my floormate but will use this to sanatize around the garbage can, dogs' food bowls and for quick clean ups. To me, no differnt than a swifter mop. Doesn't do any better or worse. Does not cut hard to clean grime. I still need to use elbow grease on some parts of the tile. Wouldn't use on my hardwood because I'm afraid of what it would do to sealed hardwood. Not a good investment and will keep my floormate.

4 out of 5 stars good basic cleaning tool   November 9, 2008

This is the second bissell steam mop I've purchased. The mop heads are better on this one than the earlier version. Overall, this product is a good steam cleaner, but it is not a heavy duty steamer. I had white tile in my kitchen floor and with three dogs, this steam mop gets the floor visibily clean, but not thoroughly clean (meaning if you scrubbed it by hand you'd find more dirt). br /br /I really like this thing because the floors feel clean after you use it. Two biggest negatives are that it will streak hardwoods, which drives me crazy and the cord is too short. With that being said, it's better than any other mopping alternative for the same price or less. It certainly beats traditional wet mopping.
