Product Description
Children love to wander. Let them safely roam about your home with the Kidco Door Lever Lock. This lock is a brilliant way to prevent your child from accidentally getting outside. It locks on one side of the door allowing access from the other side so you can easily enter your home. It then automatically resets after every use.

2 out of 5 stars Not a longterm solution   September 30, 2008

I read many of the postings on here and found that people either loved this product or hated it. This didn't exactly help me make my choice on buying this product but I was desperate to get something to keep my 1 1/2 year old twins from opening doors they were not supposed to. Also it didn't help that all our room doors in the house have levers and not normal round door handles. So I gave it a shot and bought about 5 of these. They were not that difficult to put on and I put them to the test with my kids. At first my kids were defeated, so for a month I had no worries about them getting into the rooms but after a month of watching Mommy and Daddy using the contraption to open doors my son easily figured out how to open the door himself. He soon taught my daughter the secret within days. So now I have these thing stuck on my doors that are totally useless. Funny thing is that they actually do work on our adult guests, who stare at the handle all perplexed on how to use it. So if you want an honest opinion stay away from this because you will be writing the a simlar review like me. It is really a high priced ineffective product.

5 out of 5 stars Easy to install   September 21, 2008
I was worried at first that these lever locks would not work on our doors as the levers all face to the left where we needed to install them. Reviews of some other lever locks stated that they could only be used on handles that faced to the right. These locks work on levers that face either way, however. They were easy to install. I used the adhesive rather than the screws and have not had a problem so far. My 4 year old figured it out in about 15 seconds and my 2 1/2 year old figured one out once. It is still difficult for him and is definitely a deterrent.

1 out of 5 stars Lock is easily defeated   April 22, 2008
You definitely can't rely on it keeping a child from opening the door. Our 21 month old simply puts her finger into the bottom of the handle cover and pulls the handle down. It isn't the "official" way to unlock the door but no one told her that.

1 out of 5 stars save your money, don't buy this   April 18, 2008

Three major issues with this order. First tools ARE required to install this, dispite what the "no-tools needed" advertisement. You will need to screw in the top portion of the lock into your door. So if you ever decide to remove this device you will have screw holes showing above the handle. Secondly the product DOES NOT work. Even with the snapping mechanism engaged you can grab just enough of the bottom to open it, defeating the purpose of the device. Finally returns are costly. After talking to customer service and attempting a return, some interesting facts came up. I ordered 3 of these locks and opened 1 to install. Baby mart will only allow me to return 2 of the 3 devices. The other opened package I needed to contact the manufacturer themselves to try and get a refund. Additionally return shipping cost is on my dime. So after spending $30 I can really only recoup $5-10 of my original purchase (returning 2 instead of 3 and paying for my own shipping). I tried giving this a 0 star rating but it seems the lowest I can give is 1 star. I would not recommend this product.

2 out of 5 stars Does not fit all door handles   April 7, 2008
The product works on one of my french door handles but not the other ones because they are too long.
