A typical example would be to allow a cat access to a litter box kept in a closet. The pet door comes with two unfinished wooden frames that may be stained or painted to match the door. The door should be a standard dimension (ie 1 3/8") and may be hollow or solid. A brush is included which is designed to install between the two frames and serves to 'groom' the cat as he passes through. I wanted a way for my cats to get in and out of the closet to get to the litter box and they took to it immediately! I liked it so much - and it was so cute after i painted it white to match the door - that I bought a second one! I put that one in my pantry for their food since they tend to get a little messy when they eat. Now when guests come in my house the only sign of cats is the cats themselves! br /Only gave it four stars because if I had not had a friend with the right kind of saw I wouldn't know what to do to begin installing the door! If you are good with wood, you could probably build your own for less money, but it was worth it for me just to have the curved trim and the brush. Our cat loves it. My only suggestion is that it should ship in different colors so you don't have to paint, but it wasn't a huge deal to paint it.
