Great product, my puppy was very receptive to the different tones. This made it easy for her to learn commands. Thank you

Great great product. I have 2 pekingese and they took up withbr /the training right away when I used the whistle. It is adjustablebr /for frequencies. I checked reviews before I purchased it and hadbr /the best reviews by far and I see why now. Most important is to br /follow the instructions and never use it out of anger, it is forbr /training purposes.br /

5 out of 5 stars My first whistle   December 23, 2006

I should state that I have never owned a dog whistle before. Then again I have never needed one before. In the past my dogs were trained on what I could whistle out myself and hand signals and that always seemed to work. Things changed one day for me with a young border collie, a 35mph wind, and a rabbit that ran across his path. I knew then I needed a whistle.br /br /This review assumes that one knows that "silent whistles" are not silent. It also assume one knows how they work and why they work. br /br /I chose this whistle in part because it had adjustable sound for distance working. It got big points for me because it is stainless steel (I'm a clutz, my dog is a destroyer, and I live in ice and snow half of the year). I thought it would survive better. br /br /The Remington model silent whistle though was a very close second (excellent sound quality) and I would recommend that as well for those who are not...well...like me and my dog. I only hesitated on the Remington out of durability questions I had. br /br /An Update July 2008: The chain linking the cap to the whistle though appearing solid broke on me. As Murphy predicts, I kept the cap and lost the whistle. That was a year ago and after giving up finding it, I began trying to retrain the same dog on a different whistle. A slow process. br /br /Today however, a year after losing it, the whistle was found. When I blew it for the first time my dog came bounding with expectations of going to the fields. It was a joy to see. br /br /My whistle was found at the bottom of a garbage can at my fire house. It seems fireman think whistles should be loud. When this one wasn't he assumed it was defective and threw it out. Fortunately for me he missed the garbage bag and it sat in the can for a year till another fireman changing the bag for the umpteemth time in a year, looked back to see if he missed anything and recognized it for what it was. A silent whistle! br /br /My border collie remembered,

I'm not an expert on these things, but it seems well made and it works. I've used it to call my dog, and she comes. It's not totally silent, but it's not a loud piercing noise either. I prefer it to my own loud whistle. I don't know if it works for miles. Sometimes my dog doesn't seem to hear it when the wind is blowing the wrong way and she is 100 yards away. br /br /Anyway, I recommend it as a quality product that works, and it's adjustable to allow for differing pitches.
