4 out of 5 stars Good Treat in Moderation   October 1, 2008

Dingo Munchy Stick / B000FPM5DA

When I first bought these, my puppy was 3 months old and 6 pounds heavy. I wanted something that he could chew on to keep him interested and out of trouble when I couldn't watch him for short periods of time, for instance, when I take a shower. The treats didn't quite last the entire shower, but they did the trick for a time. Now he's a month older and another 6 pounds heavier and I'm lucky if the treat lasts long enough for me to get to the shower!

Obviously, my dog likes these. He finishes them very quickly, maybe too quickly for the price, but the Amazon 4-for-3 deal still makes it worthwhile. I'm a little concerned about the rawhide in the sticks - I have been told by our trainer that rawhide can cause impaction in the digestive tract - but I think that the small shreds of rawhide in these sticks are probably safe. Still, I'm considering phasing these out to beefhide sticks (not the same as rawhide), especially since the Dingo Stix do not last very long.

As usual, I had no trouble with Amazon shipping, and the Stix look and smell the same as the ones from the local pet store - no weird odor or any signs of spoilage from sitting in a warehouse too long. I will probably continue to order these for as long as the 4-for-3 deal lasts.

1 out of 5 stars My pup walked away!   September 20, 2008
I have a beagle mix pup which loves to chew! He will chew pretty much any type of rawhide/plushie/bully stick/etc. I purchased a few packs of these based on the reviews and was let down.

Now I know all dogs have different tastes but my pup wouldn't touch this. I do agree with a previous reviewer who said they have a bad smell. I can't place it but it has a medicine type odor.

He will eventually chew it if I keep playing with it in front of him, then it lasts about 5 minutes. The next day I give him one and again he walks away. In any case, even if your dog does like the taste, once they start chewing they don't last long, 5 minutes tops for a 4 month old beagle pup. I was just shocked that this was the one and only treat he didn't like.

1 out of 5 stars worried   August 15, 2008
I was very concerned when I rec'd this product. it was made in China, and a number of the "sticks" were broken with grayish brown sediment around them. They had a terrible smell. My dog took one sniff and walked away (she usually eats any "treat" I give her). I think this product should be taken off of the Amazon sales site. I usually like to shop for products at Amazon. Now I am leery to do so.

5 out of 5 stars Dogs love them!   August 6, 2008
I have 2 dogs and both of them LOVE these things. They don't last long (at least not with my dogs) but they are great treats to give them. Highly recommend.

5 out of 5 stars My Dog Loves these Things   July 3, 2008
My dog really loves these things and devours them right up.

He is a small size 18 pound Bichon Frise.

He recommends them.
