So, does anyone on here have a swissie? I do not, but have sort of fallen in love with them after meeting someone that had one. I wish I had the money to get one. I want a female, not to breed or anything, I already have two male dogs and figure adding another male dog could turn into a problem.

I have a 7 1/2 year old Swissy and a 3 1/2 month old puppy. Both are males and I can't say enough about the breed.... I just love them... My first dog was very easily housebroken but my pup is still working on it. Let me know if you have any questions.

My husband loves these dogs, but I don't know a whole lot about the breed. How are they with children? How big do they get?
Thanks!

My male Swissy is about 130 and they are great with kids. Although all my kids are grown, they are around my grandchildren all the time and love them. They are really a great breed but I will say they are prone to a lot of health problems. My older Swissy has had eplipesy since 15 months and also has hip problems.

Unfortunately all the Swiss breeds have a high rate of cancer, which is the primary cause of death in the breeds. I have had the pleasure of having a lovely pair of Swissies in one of my training classes a few years ago. Beautiful, sweet, gentle dogs!

I have met a few around here and they seem like really nice dogs. However there was one at this year's "Pooches in the park" and he was aggressive and trying to start fights with all the other dogs.He was friendly with the people tho.I think it was the way the owners trained him tho, because they kept him on a short leash and held it very tight.
