Default What breeds of cats and dogs can live together?

Are there any particular breeds of dog that can live in the same household as a cat and not chase them all the time or fight?

i don't believe it's a case of "breeds" I believe it's more of a case of temperment with both cat and dog it's not easy to have them in the same house sometimes but it works. I have a hunterway dobbie X and he is very placid but my first cat used to chase him(6 months old when we got him just a moggie) but then I was given a 3 week old kitten that was found and they get along like a house on fire. I have attached a pic of my kitten and my dog playing together

any breed can live together, it is the tempermant more than anything! Sighthounds, do have a tendancy to have more problems with it tho. I have had cats with, labs, shepards, rottis, bloodhounds, St. Bernards, Akitas ect....
here is 2 pics of my St. Bernard, and my Cat Loki, Taken Today!

Really what is it about those two breeds that makes you think they will be suited better than any other breeds

I think it depends on temperament and age they are put together. many people get a kitten and a pup and they play together and never fight. My son has a 12 yr old dog that goes bananas when he sees a cat, he just adores them, some are friendly, other's claw and hiss.

It is definitely the temperment of the dog. I had to wait and get a Shina Inu puppy because each breeder told me that a grown (i.e. rescue Shiba) could be prone to chase cats. My cat was 12 yrs old when I got my pup -- he put him in his place real quick. About 2 years later my cat died in his sleep and my dog was lost without his playmate. So off to the animal shelter I went and brought home a kitten. My boy Shogun was used to being bullied by the other cat -- he didn't understand why this kitten was scared of him. After the kitten became a year old (and there was only 7 lbs difference between them) they are the best of friends. Most of the time it's the dog initiating "tag time" and they'll run throughout the house taking turns chasing each other.
