My favorite is the Pekingese, however I wouldn't call them tiny. They are about 10-14 pounds. For the teeny tiny dogs, I like Yorkies and Poms.

West Highland White TerrierThey arent "tiny" to the point you can fit them in your purseBut they are quite small, and very darling. They're also good for people with allergies because they don't shed much.

Dachshunds are nice but they tend to suffer from back probs. Make sure you are prepared for any vets fees if you have a dog, they`re damned expensive!

Whichever dog you decide to go with, please consider rescuing from your local shelter or pound. I've rescued all my dogs and they are the most appreciative little fellas ever! They're much easier to train too if they are a couple of years old.
Since my dh and I have allergies, we rescue Poodles or Poodle-mix dogs because they have fur, not hair so they don't shed. The downside might be the grooming upkeep can get expensive, unless you can learn to groom them yourself like I did. Poodles are very intelligent also.
If our city allowed more than 3 dogs per household, we would have at least 5 indoor dogs. ( ALL dogs deserve to stay indoors in my humble opinion.)

I had a chinese crested, if you want a little dog that looks like a furry necked rat then I suggest you get one of them too.

A tea cup chihuahua is extremely trendy and cute. Plus everyone uses them as accessories. In the medieval times the kings and queens used them as hand warmers.

I would share my opinion and say a Maltese. Maltese generally only weigh up to eight pounds. These dogs do not shed and do not drool. The only thing is you have a 50/50 chance of getting a real sweetheart or a yappy dog. These dogs only have one problem and that would having to brush them maybe daily or unless you trimmed them once a week or every two weeks. Some may mention the Chinese Crested and yes these are great dogs but because of lack of fur they have high maintenance with skin care. Maltese not only are shed less dogs but they were kept only by royalty in older times. Even if you find an eight pound to large there are tea cup Maltese weighing two-five pounds. Maltese are great dogs to own and I know because of my mothers dog. I grew up with this dog named Victoria and I know she is still a great dog. I guess one of the best qualities of a Maltese would be their lifespan. Most live to be 18 or 19 but some live 20+ years of age. If you decide on this dog t is important to know your breeder as with any dog. Also try to meet the puppy's mother and possibly father. This will help tell you if you will get a sweetheart or a yappy pup. Finally many of my friends who allergic to dogs have never sneezed while Victoria was in the room. They are truly amazing dogs. These dogs will never shed not a hair. Unless of course you brush them...because then you are pulling the hair out. Yet for the 8 years of owning Victoria she hasn't shed once.
