I think the people who are caught with the animals need to be euthanized as well...its not the dogs that are bad, its the people who trained them to be that way that are bad...

I think something has to be done to stop people owning dangerous dogs. People do own dangerous dogs; they are always one of the breeds you mentioned above and they are only identified when they bite someone or worse, rip a child to pieces. What would you suggest if not banning the breeds?

I would agree that it is how the animal has been trained...but, the key word here is animal. My sweet, kid loving german shepherd ripped into a pit bull over a sqeek toy. Over the years certain breeds have been breed to be more aggressive. If my fun loving, usually even tempered dog can bloody another dog for a toy, what can a dog who was breed for that do? I don't think that banning the breed is the answer, but we need to be realistic about our "animals"!

No! It's mostly about the owners!!! They refuse to educate themselves and do the right thing by the dogs by treating them with respect and direction. Watch the 'Dog Whisper!' Ceaser is fantastic with dogs!

It is not the dogs fault, it is what they are taught or how they are treated that should be looked at, Why not put down the humans that decided to treat these beautiful animals in such away.

Here in South Texas we see on the news almost everyday a pit bull attack either on a human or it has killed another persons pet.....seems pretty bad to me. It can't just be a lot of bad owners, there's something with that breed. I never hear anything about other breeds killing peoples pets or attacking people walking by their home.....it's crazy! I'm a dog lover but vicious dogs should not be tolerated. They should have really harsh laws about how the animals are kept so they can't get out!! My neighbors have 2 mean pits and they get out all the time and it freaks me out!

I don't agree with them at all. They don't do a stinkin' thing about the jerks of owners who neglect, abuse & fight their dogs & cause them to go a-wall when they get a little bit of freedom. It doesn't matter what breed(s) they ban, these idiots will just move to another "tough dog" & make that breed bad. What are we going to do about the people? I happen to own 3 American Pit Bull Terriers (Pit Bulls) & I wouldn't trade them for any other breed & I love a LOT of breeds. My dogs are awesome dogs & great with kids. I take them in public places all the time (as socialization is the key to ANY great dog) & everyone loves them. And my dogs aren't the only Pit Bulls that are great like this. It's only a few that are bad & usually not even a Pit Bull that does the bites but would you truly believe it if the media reported a beloved Golden Retriever or something like that?

i totally disagree. my neighbor has 4 pit bulls and 2 cats, i used to think they were all so dangerous, but they arent, those dogs would lick you to death at the most. it is all in how the owner raises them. and ANY dog can be vicious not just these breeds. those damn ankle biters can be more aggressive than a bully but nobody puts a ban on them, its ridicoulous.

Its hard to say...Ive come across a lot of these dogs that are very sweet. But you could have the sweetest dog, but when the troubled neigborhood kid comes along and reaches through the fence and sticks his finger in your dogs eye, instincts will be triggered. There are also a lot of owners who will use their dogs as weapons. I think people should have a right to have whatever dog they want, but maybe they should be required to haev a permit, possibly a special fence in some areas.
