| | Guest | Which dog breed should I buy?
I want a hairless and fairly small dog, that is calm and reserved, but loyal and loving too. Appearance does not matter, I just want a dog for company - a dog that I can put on my lap and watch T.V. with, for example. I have searched for some dog breeds, like the Xolo (hairless mexican dog), but they are not available in the UKplease suggest other dog breeds with a similar temperament and attitude, as well as the same qualities (small, hairless and calm) - i need a small dog due to housing size.Anyone suggest otherAlso, thedog should have an average activity level ie not hyperactive, but not lazy eitherYeah, my mum has a very sensitive nose and is allergic to dog hair, which is why i want a hairless or a dog with the minimum amount of shedding

Go to the local animal shelter and visit with the dogs and see which one is closest to the type you are wanting... Every animal I have ever had I got from the pound. It makes you feel a lot better to purchase a dog from the pound than purchase one from someone that is just looking for the ca$h

what about a short hair jack russel or fox terrior? they're really lovely and good guard dogs as well. or even better how about going to a dog shelter and having a look, you could find your perfect friend and so something good for the world as well.

BULLDOG!!!!! small, shed but not alot except for the seasonal, quiet, very loyal, extremely calm, but will guard u to the death if needed. My bulldogs love my sons lap and happily snore away the day as we are at work. They are not a toy breed but are DEFINATELY much, much more quiet and do not have the temperment problems of the toy breeds. They only require a few blocks a day exercise, are not agressive and definately are happy in a small apartment.I have shown and had national champion bulldogs and can say I am an expert on them, they would be happy with you.

I would not recommend a cocker spaniel or a jack russell for you. From personal experience, cockers can be extremely temperamental (they are also probably not as small as you want).Jack Russels are known for being extremely energetic- they would probably not make a good lap dog. They also may not do very well in an apartment or small house (they need excersize!)
