we have always had golden retrievers. they are loyal, fantatsic with kids, and are the sweetest dogs on this planet. I have never ever seen one get aggresive with a child, even when provoked. They are fantastic dogs.

I think lab/collie is the best .Some times this dog can save your child.

I run a childcare business out of my home and I have a lab/dalmation mix...he's absolutely wonderful and I couldn't ask for a better pet! He lets the kids play all over him, bite, drool, you name it and he just lays there. If you get him outside he's spunky and playful. I think a lab mix would be your best choice. Good Luck!

I personally would think a lab/collie would be best. As labs and collies are both kid frienly dogs. Huskies are a little more nippy aswell.

Labs are absolutely amazing, but really it doesn't even matter about what breed it is, though some have better temperment than others. Train the dog as though you would a child, if they act out, spank them and teach them no. I have two Jack Russells and they're great with my little brother and sister.

Ontario and Tracey gave some great advice. The only thing I can add is from personal experience. We have a 3 y/o black lab/border collie/german sheppard mix. He's a big boy (88 lbs) but he is the best dog around kids.He will let my 3 y/o nephew "T" roll on him without a peep and he is protective of him.God forbid if you scold T in front of him!He will run over to you and bat you with his paw as if he's scolding you for yelling at the kid.My nephew can and often does feed him treats and there's never been a problem. The only problem we have ever had with him as far as people are concerned is he's leery of strange men we meet on walks. He will bark at the man and then hide behind who ever is walking him.
