Shiloh Shepherds ~ISSR~
My favorite dog is the ISSR Shiloh Shepherd. They are a majestic giant of a dog with an almost human intelligence, loyal, versatile, protective without being overly aggressive, easy to train, good family dog and eye popping beautiful. I know because I have three living in the house with me. I only wanted one in the beginning but like chips, I couldn't stop at having just one.

I love standard poodles. I also think bichons are great, I've never had one of my own but did some research to the extent of meeting breeders and think they're wonderful. Unfortunately my roommate changed her mind *sigh* must wait longer for my perfect dog.

Favorite Breeds...
I love labs, German Shepherds, dalmatians, corgis and Australian Shepherds.. But my absolute favorite is the beagle. They are sooo cute, loving and active; always curious. They have been my favorite breed since I was a kid.

My absolute FAVORITE breed is the Jack Russell Terriers. They have the greatest (and sometimes strangest) personalities and are extremely smart.

Nothing beats a Jack Russell!!!
I must agree with KyleighsMama; of all the various breeds of dogs I've parented as well as those I've fostered, nothing beats the Jack Russell Terrier (particularly the shorty's) for loyalty, love, affection, and all around fun! Their amazing qualities as a companion, friend and all around great dog to have are really underrated. They are an amazing blend of hunter and cuddly lap dog. However, perhaps this is a good thing. Any breed that has had the misfortune to become "flavour of the month" attracts unscrupulous breeders of all sorts who are out to make a fast buck and as a result, the breed suffers for it. So far, the JRT has been strictly maintained and bred to be exactly what they're supposed to be - a working dog.
If they all of a sudden enjoyed a huge surge in popularity, it would not be good for the breed. Every breed who has found themselves at the top of the "current trendy popularity list" ends up being indiscriminately bred and genetic problems begin to pop up. So far, jacks enjoy very good health. We may be far better off remaining in the shadows.

Great danes!
I would definately have to say great danes are my favorite breed and i am not saying that cuz i share my home with 2. I love their size and gentle nature and that they are so devoted to their owners. I like that they are great with kids as well since I have a son and of course their great big goofy personality.

Another Jack Russell fan
Jack Russells have got to be a favourite of mine. Classic colour, of course! My first dog was a female Jack Russell, tri coloured, very pretty. Back then dogs roamed streets and were welcomed by most...Toko decided to meet someone, and I ended up having a litter of puppies, and keeping one. Then again, the pup I kept looked like she maybe had Whippet in her...How can I choose my favourite breed if I have one of each?

Hands down, my favourite breed is the American Eskimo (standard sized) I have had a few dogs in my life, and fostered a whole lot more, and so far none of the breeds have come close.
The eskies were originally bred to be used in the circus to walk the tightropes and as such, are very very agile, and fast. The standard eskies weigh about 25-30 pounds which makes them a great medium sized dog.
They are *fiercely* loyal, and protective of their family, but as long as they are trained and socialized properly they are not at all aggressive.
My eskie is probably the smartest dog I have ever met. He picks up words, commands and tricks very quickly, and often impresses people we meet at the park and on the street with his friendly and outstanding personality.
I've always wanted an australian shepherd, preferably a red merle and hope to get one within a few years. I also really love boston terriers, and french bulldogs.
I believe one of the best breeds of dogs is the staffy-terrier (pitbull) They are completely misunderstood, and are often very gentle dogs. I've said on more than one occasion that I would trust a pitbull with children, my dogs and my cats way more than I would trust a JRT. If there wasn't a BSL against them where I live, I would definitely own one.
