Which small dog breeds get along well with cats?
I have a 5 year old Ragdoll, and I'm considering getting a puppy. I currently live with my parents, and we have 2 other cats and a large dog, and she gets along great with the other animals. She's very friendly, and I don't think she'd have a problem with a dog.I'll be moving into an apartment soon, and I would like to get a dog.Which small dog breeds get along well with cats? The smaller the better, because I don't want to confine a large dog to an apartment! Is a Chihuahua too small to have with a cat as large as a Ragdoll?Any advice on introducing the cat and the puppy?

if you introduce the puppy and the cats at an early stage they should get on ok,I had puppies and kittens together and it was great, the pups didnt understand why they couldn't jump as high as the kittens, they thought they were the same and all slept in a bean bag together

tat's a really ard question. it's not if it's a good breed but te personality of te dog tat will decide wether it will get along with cats. i have a chihuahua and she gets along with everything, even mt pet rat. it's the temperment of the dog that matters.

Yorkshire Terrier! My yorkie is great with cats. He used to have troubles, my cat would chase him! But my cat is just weird.

any small breed is fine. you would be surprised at how animals take to each other. I have a ragdoll as well and she has been exposed to many dogs I bring home strays alot due to my job. but she is curious at first and may not seen interested, if you get a puppy to start with and let it slowly mingle with your cat it should be fine, don't try and push them together this isn't good.. the cats curiousity will get the best of her she will want to know who that is and will accept the puppy. being she is the one there first the cat will earn the respect of the puppy. Well good luck and remember most of the time animals get alone better than humans. and your cat she has been around other dogs so it should be fine. and if you do get a dog that is not a puppy make sure it has been around cats.

Most dogs will get along with cats, if this is your first time raising a dog with cats I would either stay away from a lot of the terriers or be sure to have a good trainer handy just in case. Terriers are known to chase down animals their size and smaller...it's what they were bred for
