Try to adopt one first of all. But when you are looking in those cages and when that one dog locks eyes with you you will no if they chose you or not.But if you must buy a puppy the one puppy may come right up to you and be in your arms for the rest of their life.

Absolutely do your homework on the breed your considering....there are many different personality traits in dogs.....do lots and lots of research to find which of these traits will fit you and your lifestyle...some are very hyper (Jack Russell Terrier for example)....while other are very laid back..some are stubborn and hard to train...others are easier to train....some are more prone to seperation anxiety....maybe even ask for opinions on here when you find a breed you think your interested in.....Personally...I have a Beagle and a Pug....Great dogs......not much problem in training these dogs..and their personalities go good together....Good luck in your decision!

Do lots and lots of research on breeds that you might be interested in. After being completely honest with yourself as to what breed best matches your lifestyle, do more research, then do extra research (get my point?) and make the best decision for your future pet and you. I highly recommend adopting a dog from a shelter. Visit all the shelters in your area several times. Your best friend may be already there waiting for you.
