| | Guest | Best dog breed to get?
I want to get a puppy but want to make sure that the breed of dog I get is good. I've been looking at English Bulldog puppies. I've read that they are very friendly and pretty laid back and great with kids. Anyone have any more advice on them? Much appreciated!

Be careful when buying English Bulldog puppies. They have been overbred because of the popularity and are very expensive. They may seem healthy as a puppy but as they get older then tend to have a lot of health problems including bad hips. They can be expensive with vet bills. Good luck

I have a shih tzu, and he is awesome! He is pretty low maintenance, other than the hair cuts he requires. I hear English Bulldogs are really good too, they just have a lot of health issues. I'd look into that before getting one.

I have an akita, and she is just the best dog ever! However, some people consider them "bully breeds", such as pit bulls. I have no idea why. They are VERY smart, sweet and loyal. And,extra plus, they hardly ever bark.

pugs are good breeds so are boston terriers. easily trained, not barkers and love to cuddle. my dog is a mix of these breeds-buggs. but i don't encourage designer breeding. but they are great.

English bulldogs are gorgeous, I think. They're very friendly and very laid back. You do have to be a little careful with bulldogs and kids - generally the bulldog will be fine, but be aware that this is a powerful dog, and it can do small kids damage by accident if it's allowed to "play rough" with them. You need to make sure that the bulldog is very well trained (or train it yourself), and that your kids are well trained to play with it, too! en.wikipedia.org | |

Depends on your needs. At http://www.puppyfind.com you can search for dogs based on size and upkeep. Make your selection from these criteria, and you will get a list of breed suggestions. By clicking on any of the breeds in the list, you will get more in-depth information (country of origin, size, coat, character, temperament, care, training and activity) about that particular dog. And with a little time and looking you'll find the perfect pooch.
