Which breed of dogs are vermin killers? I need one to hunt mice?
Lately, I've been sighting mice in my house. I know I should get a cat for mice problem, but at the same time I am a dog lover and would perfer having a dog instead. It would be great if I can get a cute small size dog that also help take care of the vermin problem in the house. From my researches online, mini schnauzer and toy fox terrier are small toy dogs with the ability to hunt vermins. Do you know any other small size dog breed that's good for hunting mice?? Thanks!

We had a silky terrier who used to kill mice and gophers. Any terrier should be able to do the job. But make sure there is no mouse poison around your house, because if your dog kills a mouse that has eaten poison... well, you see where I'm going with this

A dog used for hunting vermin will be inconsistent at best, and could end up contracting rabies from his prey, as well as encephalitis, which dogs are prone to.A cat will be a much better choice. Cats have FAR stronger hunting skills and instincts than dogs, and are less prone to rabies and viruses that the vermin carry.

ANY terrier is a great idea for pest control. The word 'terrier' come the Latin word terra, meaning earth. Dacshunds, Corgis, and a rare breed known as the Swedish Vallhund (A relative and most likely the ansester of both Welsh Corgis) are all recomended as well. Even the Yorkshire Terrier and other "toy" terriers are good at ratting (hunting rats and mice). Just no rat poison and keep the dog current on vaccinations. Rat poison is the same reason for the pet food recall by Menu Foods for both dog and cats. It's been killing pets like crazy. What a mess!
