Default What is the ideal middle sized dog breed?

My roommate and I are looking to get 2 dogs. We live in Boston and are dog lovers. We think that two large dogs would be too much, and we are not too keen on little dogs, so does anyone have any middle-sized dog breeds that they recommend?I consider a golden to be a big dog, and a chuiwawa to be small. We live in an apartment but are VERY active people. We walk everywhere and run three times a day. We live ten minutes from Boston Commons and go there almost every afternoon.

I would look for a rescue on www.Petfinders.com on the internet about 20-25 lbs is a good mid sized dog, terrier poodle mixes, cockapoos, spaniels, you can enter what size you are looking for on the site and this will give you some ideas. Good luck and do'nt forget a dog is about a 14 year committment if you get a pup or young dog!

well, if you want a dog that isn't too big neither too small, I would recommend on getting a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I have a 1 year old Cavalier puppy at the moment. He is the most loving and the best companion that I have ever had. They are very caring and too great to explain into words!! They get along very good with children and other people and are very gentle with them. They aren't too hard to take care of and I know that you wouldn't regret it if you got one. MY puppy enjoys running and exercising...I hope you find your puppies!

i would get a pitbull they are easy to handle and very luving, best to get a young one. also they love walks and are very high energized dogs and pups. but faithful and loyal.. also doesn't bark much . hope this is what your looking to hear pitbulls are mid sized dogs, weigh up to 65-90 pounds according on female or male.

a REAL pitbull will not weigh up to 90lbs. The standard calls for them to be in the 30-60lb range. They are great dogs, love to exercise, but may not be a great match for an apartment. If they appeal to you I would go with an American Staffordshire terrier, or Staffordshire Bull Terrier (smallest of the three). The American Pitbull Terrier is a very energetic dog, and some walks and runs won't cut it!
