Lab or golden retriever. I use to raise both breeds years ago. Now if you want a high energy dog that is wanting to go 24/7 without a doubt a border collie

greyhounds and whippets are not ideal for babies under 1 year old as there cry to them can sound like a rabbit squealing and so therefore it brings out there natural hunting instincts, but saying that .. if u bring a puppy greyhound or whippet up in the same home as a baby they get to know the difference.. i would suggest a labrador or retriever ,

greyhounds are awesome couch potatoes, but when you want them to get up and go they have an endless amount of energy- perfect for an exercise partner, (labs have too much energy, no labs).

It would be nice if you went to a shelter first to see if you can save a dog that is acceptable to you.

Boxers! they are very intellegant and loves the outdoors! and very gentle with kids. The boxer is playful, exuberant, inquisitive, attentive, demonstrative, devoted and outgoing; it is a perfect companion for an active family. It can be stubborn, but it is sensitive and responsive to commands. It may be aggressive toward strange dogs, but it is generally good with other household dogs and pets. The boxer needs daily mental and physical exertion. It likes to run, but its exercise needs can also be met with a good jog or a long walk on leash. It does not do well in hot weather and is generally unsuited to living outdoors. It does best when allowed to divide its time between a house and yard. Some snore. Its coat needs only occasional brushing to remove dead hair. Health• Major concerns: cardiomyopathy, SAS, CHD • Minor concerns: gastric torsion, tumors, intervertebral disc degeneration, corneal erosion, colitis• Occasionally seen: none• Suggested tests: cardiac, hip• Life span: 8 – 10 years• Note: sensitive to heat and anesthesia; white boxers may be deaf. The boxer is exemplary in its combination of stylish elegance with strength and agility. It is square-proportioned with good substance and musculature. Its stride is free and ground-covering, with proud carriage. Its head is distinctive, with a broad, blunt muzzle and alert expression. Its coat is short and shiny. It is perfectly suited to serve as a working watchdog. or how about a golden retreieverEverybody's friend, the golden retriever is known for its devoted and obedient nature as a family companion. It is an apt sporting retriever as well and yearns for a day in the field. Ignoring its active nature and powerful physique can lead to behavior problems, and it needs daily physical and mental exercise. It tends to be overly exuberant and boisterous, and its enthusiasm for everything often distracts it during training; however, it is eager to please and enjoys learning. The golden's achievements in competitive obedience are remarkable. It especially enjoys games that involve retrieving and loves to carry items in its mouth. The golden retriever needs daily exercise and human interaction. Challenging obedience lessons, active games or retrieving sessions are all good ways to exercise the golden's mind and body. Although it is capable of living outdoors, it is such a social dog that it is best when it shares its life with its family. The coat does not tend to mat but needs twice weekly brushing. • Major concerns: CHD, elbow dysplasia, cataract• Minor concerns: entropion, distchiasis, trichiasis, cataract, pyotraumaticdermatitis, subvalvular aortic stenosis, OCD, allergies, vWD, cardiomyopathy• Occasionally seen: gastric torsion, epilepsy, CPRA, osteosarcoma• Suggested tests: hip, elbow, eye, cardiac, (blood)• Life span: 10 – 13 years The golden retriever is an athletic, strong dog, capable of carrying heavy game over land and water. For this, it needs a broad, powerful head with strong neck and well-developed fore- and hindquarters. It is just slightly longer than tall. The gait is smooth, powerful and ground-covering. The water-repellant coat is dense, with the outer coat straight or wavy. i hope this helps!

Try using a dog breed selector. They are great match makers. You will probably get a different breed on each selector but here's what you can do.Take each selector quizWrite down the names of each dog you getRead up on each dogPick your favoriteAnd p.s if you have kids remember. Kids and dogs should NEVER be left alone together. A big dog can severely injure a small kid and any kid can severely injure a small dog. So for kids I would recomend the size be between 20-50 pounds (medium)Also don't forget. Not all dogs live up to their breed standard. Labs can be lazy and collies can be dumb (Even though that's not the case in most situations) Make sure you play with the dog before you take it home and if you want to know it's temperament for sure get a dog because puppy's almost unpredictable with what their temperament will be like, their temperaments tend to change as they get older. I knew a puppy who had a sweet temper and once he grew up he became snappy and mean.
