We found a small rat or mice in house, dog caught it,i took it out of dog's mouth. IF I DID NOT TAKE IT AWAY FROM DOG, WILL THE DOG EAT RAT OR SMALL RAT OR JUST PLAY WITH IT UNTIL THEY ARE SURE IT IS DEAD

It depends on the dog and its behavior.Either way, no mouse should be near your dog's mouth - mice can carry many diseases, especially Leptospirosis which is VERY serious and often fatal for dogs.Set up traps away from where your pets can get to them and get rid of the mice ASAP! Also be sure to clean often, especially surface areas - just because your dog doesn't lick the counter doesn't mean the germs from the mouse aren't being spread around the house.

Sounds like a terrier to me. Terriers are bred to kill rodents. It's possible that they might eat a mouse. I haven't heard of it but they have to get the taste of blood in their mouths when they kill so why not? It's gross but that's what they were bred for. Sylvia
