Mutt that you rescue from shelter is the best dog breed.

depends on what traits you like. I prefer pit bulls for their loyalty and basset hounds for their laid back attitude and big ears.

The best dog breed would have to be german shepherds. They're really nice, they obey, and learn quick, they can also make good guard dogs, or playful pals.To me, they're the best.

Golden Retrievers are very smart, kind and loving dogs. I never liked dogs all that much until we got our Golden. She's wonderful, understands practically everything we say and she's highly intelligent. I understand why these dogs make great helper dogs for the disabled and blind!

Jack Russell Terriers. They're mid-sized and get to about 15 pounds. If you get a short-haired one, it won't shed much. They are super enthusiastic and remain that way, even when they're old. They get along well with just about anybody.

I would agree with a the earlier response about a mutt from the shelter. There are tooooooo many animals that are put to death because they have no home. However, your question is difficult to answer. It all depends on what you want your dog to be trained to do or how you want them to look. I sugtgest going to this website and comparing all of the common traits that certain breeds have. However, also remember that not every dog of every breed is the same. http://www.petplace.com/dogs/underst...ups/page1.aspx

There is really no way to tell. The best dog I ever had was a rottweiler but he died after 10 years. Labs are good but they act stupid there first 3 years of life, they are hilarious though. Boxers dont mind but are very sweet. Jack Russel Terriors shed A LOT! Italian Greyhounds break bones easily but love to snuggle and live a long time and are cute when they have a cast on there leg...but they still run as fast as they can. Chi's are bad with kids but great without kids...very fragile. To my conclusion a golden retriever is a good dog but love water and there long hair makes them smell bad if you don't bath them what seems to be every week! (which is not good for them). Dachunds get weird when they get old. I hope I helped but all the dogs I listed are my favorites. I don't think I have really known any other dogs comes to think of it...so my answer is probably biased. LOL Muts are awsome too!

I personally love the basset, but they are not, however for everyone. They are unique and are offbeat. There are a whole bunch of color variations, unlike a golden retriever. They all look the same, but there is no two basset hounds that have the same marks. They also have those adorable sad eyes and long ears. Mine is the best dog I have ever had! I love all dogs, but I like this breed the best.
