I understand the boxer is great with people. My neighbor has one and he's really good with people.

Boxers are real good with kids. But any dog is good with kids if they have been trained correctly. I have a 120lb rottweiler and my gf's 2 year old gr-dghtr can walk up to him and put her entire hand in his mouth and pull his toy away and he just licks her face. Inbred dogs from crummy breeders are more likely to have emotional problems and be hard to train but it depends on the owner and how hard you try to train the dog. A dog is happiest when he knows his limits and you enforce them.

I have actually heard that the British bulldog is great with kids, but they do require being kept cool, as they have a tendency to overheat.I also know that Boxers can be great family pets. I knew someone who had one and she was a very gentle dog, but protective of the children.I don't know too much about American Bulldogs, but if you find a breeder they should know or search on the internet, there is a lot of good information out there.

I don't know too much about these breeds but if you would consider another breed, I would highly recommend a golden retriever. They are great with children, strangers, males, females, anyone really. They would drown you in doggy slobber (if given the chance) before they would consider anything else. I have never seen my dog be aggressive towards anything or anyone and she has the happiest demeanour of any dog I have owned.

I work at a dog kennel and have spent time with many many many boxers. Every one was a wonderful dog! They are sweet and well-behaved and plus they are adorable. I want one some day. Also my friend had a boxer and also 2 little sisters and they all lived happily with no problems whatsoever.Really, any dog that is WELL SOCIALIZED as a puppy (taken to many different places and around many types of people) will be great around both children and strangers. No matter what breed you pick, you need to take your dog around to get exposed to life.
