"Five million (yeah, read it again) 5 million dogs are given the needle in this country because of BYB."Five million dogs, huh?Where do you get your facts?According to the HSUS, only 4-6 million dogs and cats are euthanized each year. It's hard to think that only 1 million - 2 million of those are cats. It's also only because of backyard breeding? Boy you have fallen for the AR line of thinking hook, line and sinker haven't you? It's 4-6 million pets each year and that was an estimate given a few years ago and really isn't current at this time. HSUS and other animal rights organizations like to use that number since it worked for them in the past, why change things? The actual number of pets spayed/neutered right now in the US is roughly 80-85%. That's a pretty high number, no?Not all of those supposed 4-6 million pets are killed because they have no homes. Many are killed because of behavior issues, too old, too sick and owner requests. These are considered unadoptables, but it's not really something you will see in the "stats" as it goes against the message that there is truly an overpopulation issue. We don't have an overpopulation issue, we have a retention issue. The majority of animals in shelters had a home at one point or another, they were given up for whatever reason. Does that sound as if they are there because of overpopulation?Overpopulation is a term used by AR orgs to further their agenda of what they call a no birth nation. their goal is no interaction between non-human animals and humans at all. This means, no pets, no meat to eat, no seeing eye dogs or police dogs or search and rescue dogs, no more pet cats, ferrets, and what ever else is kept as a pet. All the breeds of dogs and cats will be extinct. All pets will be extinct. Is this truly what you want?
