genes. its all in the genes. what kind of dog is it? well the dog has a dominant gene for long hair but theres still that resessive gene for short hair. so in some cases the resessive can take part. thats like saying why does a red head mother give birth to a blonde daughter. its all in the genes of one of the parents. one of the parents has a short hair gene.

Well it depends if the mother dog had done it with a differnt bread. Like the genes put together might have made its hair grow long.
