u could get a cocker spaniel or a snouzer...however u spell that!!

For an apartment you need a small breed dog. Pugs are great.

If your apartment complex allows bigger dogs I would suggest a Golden Retriever. They are really good with kids and are known to be very smart animals. They listen well, too.

I have always had good luck with a border collie cause they are playful dogs they are not overly aggersive and they are good with kids
