Well, I don't have a large breed dog, but my Doberman is pretty big. He's a lot bigger than our Pug. But they get along just great. Our Dobie was full grown when we brought the Pug pup home, and we've had the Pug for a little over a year now. They get along great and play all the time. I think our Dobie knows that he's bigger so he can't play as rough with the little Pug. So in my experience, they get along great as long as they both have good temperments and if you train the bigger dog that smaller dog isn't a chew toy. Hope it helps!

I have a 70+ lb Labrador Retriever and two dachshund puppies. We just acquired the dachshund puppies in Jan of this year, and Gracie, the Labrador, is 4 years old. At first, Gracie wasn't sure of the puppies, but it only took a couple days for them to become friends. Now, they do everything together--play together, run together, walk together, etc. The puppies will lay down by Gracie, sometimes even in nursing position, and they treat her just like their momma puppy. Gracie, being the nurturing dog that she is, went right into this role. I've seen her perk up, being happy to do "dog things" with the dachshunds. As far as how we got them to that point, it was just showing each of them A LOT of attention. The dachshunds were raised with a big dog (German Shepherd mix,) so they were already familiar with big dogs. It took Gracie a few days to accept them into her home, but she did rather quickly.
