Default Why do pet stores mostly have mixed breeds dogs now?

and such awful pairings....a bichon and a pug, that goldendoodle...I love all animals, but what are these breeders doing?????

So-called purebred dogs are usually genetically damaged from too much inbreeding. The dogs would be healthier and happier if they were all mutts.

they are attempting to popularize new "breeds" of dogs, which they can then sell for hundreds of dollars - it's the new thing (remember when chihuahuas were ALL over the place?).*** just a quick warning to anyone taken in by the trend, these designer dogs are too new to have predictable traits when fully grown. a friend of mine paid $600 for a "morkie" (maltese x yorkie). the dog was supposed to be three pounds fully grown but is now pushing ten and not even close todone, although he is not overweight by anymeans just really big.

they do it because it is the "cool" thing to own a mixed newly invented breed. I think it is a little sad, although some of them are really cute.
