Can you breed two dogs together if there brother and sister?
I personally don't think so. But I was at a dinner party last week and one of the guest said he was going to breed his puppies together. He went on explaining that they were brother and sister... He said, it was alright because they were just dogs. Mind you, this guest has a degree from UCLA in Biology.. What do you Guys think?

No inbreeding causes genetic problem and causes more problems than it solves.

They are just animal. They don't understand relationship as we understood. When some animal's can eat it's own babies, why not they mate with each other. like brother to sister, mother to son and father to daughter. Father, Mather, Brother and Sister all non existence in their world. So I don't think there is some thing wrong in it. Remember, Adm and Eve were the first human being. They had sex and gave birth to couple of child. If you consider both the babies are boy and girl, where can they go to find out a partner to mate or both the babies are boys, where can they go to find out a girl other then their own mother or if both are girls, then where can they go to find out a man to mate with other than their own father. Look, we all started doing what animals were doing now. Because those days we were living like an animal. Later on we developed spoken language to communicate with each other, from spoken to writing and reading. Only after the development of language, we developed relationship, started naming each other and then discovered society. The society got developed in to a kingdom and latter as a country. Before that we human had been mating with each other. Only the sense of thinking let us to develop the civilization. In the absence of it the animals are still considered as animal. So nothing wrong and you don't worry, let them enjoy.

No, it's just not a good idea. The complications and probability of health problems is super high!

No. Not a good idea at all.Although it is a common practice to breed father and daughter or mother and son in order to maintain a particular trait.Brother and sister breeding can lead to all sorts of problems other than narrowing the gene pool. This guy needs to update his biology knowledge.

I seriously doubt this idiot has a degree in biology. If he does he probably has no quams about torturing animals for the sake of science either. I studied genetics as part of my undergrad degree.
While this is physically and biologically possible, the problem is that when related animals are bred together deleterious allele accumulate. The odds of offspring getting a genetic disease or other problems increases exponentially when the parents are more closely related.
This is why certain breeds have their "problem diseases" that seem to be impossible to get out of the genepool. Hip problems with german shpeherds... hearing problems with dalmations...
Every dog within a breed is at the very least a distant relative of everyother. Thats why it is so important that breeders screen their stock for genetic "defects" they may be carrying to pass on to future generations, as well as keeping track of the ancestry of the dogs for many generations. It is very hard to be a good breeder.
This question seems to be asked frequently. Cant someone make one of them a sticky so that a good ansewer can be referenced and linked to everytime this question comes up?

in fact in breeding is common in standard breeding practices and is limited which is why reputable breeders do not have genetic issues in their dogs. Sister to brother, dam to son and sire to daughter is actually common and is accepted even by AKC. It is limited and generally only reputable registered breeders conduct this procedure. Testing of the dogs is required and is already done on sire and dam before any breeding so offspring need to be tested before anything is done by breeders. Leave it to the professionals, this is what they due and have spent years studying this before ever getting into this field. There is also inline breeding which is a little different.
