That describes just about any dog who is trained and loved in a house hold that is medium weight, what does it look like?BTW, Labs are about 60-80 lbs, not 20-30!

Boxers generally fit your description, but some will grow heavier than your maximum. Females tend to be smaller as do certain bloodlines.

A Jack Russell is small and quite hyper, they'll catch anything you throw at them and are easy to train

We've got 3 blue heelers. They're excellent dogs. They're easy to train, good watch dogs, very energetic, and extremely loyal. Also, they don't get too big! The only downside is that they are naturally herding dogs, so, unless you train them not to, they WILL chase every cow, horse and donkey they come across! But, they are SO much fun! Our dogs won't put their toys down! They are ALWAYS up for playing! Best of luck!

Definitely a Lab. I have a one year old black lab and she is everything you just described. Extremely smart, loves to fetch anything (especially her Frisbee, she is addicted to that thing..lol) very loving and friendly and she was easily trained. She also love, love, loves the water like any Lab does and will fetch anything you throw in the water too. Labs do get a bit bigger than 20/30 pounds though. My lab is 55 pounds. Labs are wonderful dogs!! http://www.dogbreedz.com/dogbreeds/l...-retriever.cfm

Sounds like my French Bulldog, loves to play and walk and sniff, you'll love the little thing. Right now mines is about 16 pounds and will get to 25-28 pounds when full grown; he's in between a small and medium dog. He's very active, but doesn't realize he sometimes has to catch his breath. He's not the type of dog you would take with you while you're on the bike and he's running, but never-the-less, he's not a lazy dog as many people think of the breed; they do require ALOT of attention, so I think this is where you will score...
