I'm looking to buy a small purse-sized dog, what are some breeds?

First of all the person that told you a Lhasa Apso is a really tiny dog, is hugely mistaken. The average size Lhasa Apso weighs 15 lbs, mine weighs 14 lbs. The small purse sized dog with be a tea cup poodle, imperial shih tzu and minerature yorke. Keep in mind, most of these breeds do not meet the AKC standard, and are not accepted by the AKC. Many breeders now are downsizing the dogs so they can charge huge bucks to sell them. Many have huge health issues. I am concerned that you are looking for a purse sized dog? Is this for a status symbol, or will you really love and take care of the dog. Keep in mind, most tiny dogs are overpriced and not bred well.

why would you want to have a dog in a purse anyway??? Usually the smaller the dog, the more hyper it is! Guess lack of exercise because the owner carries him/her everywhere?

toy fox terriers are small dogs. mine is a year old and she is only at most 5 pounds. BUT don't put a dog in a purse! would you want to be stuffed in a purse? i hope you are using that only as an example of what size you want since small can mean many different things. tft is a recognized breed by akc and ukc both and are great little dogs. hyper a bit at times

chihuahua, pug, pouch poodle, boston terrier, shih tzu, or maybe a miniature bulldog.
