I need to know what kind of breed or breeds my dog Red was. Some said he was a
catahoula others say heeler.? Red had a square snout. Short ears that were up but folded over. He was the color of a hound from head, back, tail, but had red freckles on his face and legs. He had a long wide tail with longer hair (not like a lab) and his coat was ALWAYS clean, very soft, and shiny at all times. I don't know if he was just a neat freak or something to do with breed. He was very gentle. He would cross his front paws when he layed down all the time. He always sat pretty. He had big brown eyes. He had an annoying bark that was like he was a chihuahua - ok not that bad but high pitched and annoying when he would chase cars or bark at other dogs (his only flaws and ultimate demise). He would care for and protect my ferrets, guinea pigs, hamster, cats, etc. He loved every thing and every one. When my sister adopted him in Livingston, MT they said he was a catahoula/heeler mix. I looked up both breeds and don't know how they got that. Anyway, if anyone knows what he is please e-mail me. I have pictures tooI dunno his snout was short.. not like a lab. I wouldn't say boxer but a lot of people asked me if he was part. Also pitbull but I don't see that - maybe ears? I have no idea. I'm more of a german sherperd and lab person... anyway..His colors and markings were like that of a hound. Light brown, white, dark brown, reddish. With red freckles on his face and legs. He was medium sized a bit smaller than a lab. He was a fast runner, very nimble, he could jump in and out of a wagon like gravity didn't exist. He had big brown eyes. His ears are the hardest thing to describe. I don't have very good pictures of him but here's a link... http://us.a2.yahoofs.com/users/43c1f...QymOGB9uNNsmLN That picture was when he was 2 years old. He hadn't filled out yet.I love mixed breeds... but this sucks. Oh.. and by "how they got that" I don't see catahoula in him at all....

The link to your picture dosnt work, but from your discription it definately sounds like he had heeler in him. I have a heeler, they are a medium sized dog, smaller than a lab, with a shorter snout than a lab. They are usually two main colours, the blue heeler, which is a greyish kind of colour mixed with black, tan, and sometimes a bit of white, or the red heeler (that I have) who are mainly reddish brown with bits of black and tan (mine has a lot of white because shes getting old). She has a medium length coat that is very thick and always soft and clean. Her ears are a bit on the small side, and stick straight up. They are usually stockier in the front end and slimmer in the waist and back (unless they are overweight, then they kind of are tube shaped). The other name for the breed is austrailian cattle dog, they are bred to herd cattle, so thats probably where the chasing comes in. My girl has a horribly annoying bark, loud and long, like one continuous bark. She is very protective of me and my boyfriend and even our other dog. hope this helps
