How can I get my 1 year old mixed breed dog to stop digging in the yard?

dig in the yard and put tinfoil underneath the grass then put the grass back on the soil. The dogs HATE digging on tin foil. and make it entertained with toys to play with and a bone to chew on. Get it a fun little kiddy pool for it to swim in.

can be a hard one to do sometimes, after all, dogs dig. If you are finding that other toys and entertainiment dont curb the dog from digging for long, it may be worth just creating an erea that is OK for it to dig, but no where else, createing a clear boundry for the dog such as a pit of some sort, and hiding treats under sand or dirt in that area and encourage digging in the sand pit only, every time you catch it digging outside of the boundray, correct behaviour and take it back to designated digging area and reward.
