I am looking for a small companion dog. I love LOVE love the italian greyhound but they are prone to leg breaks and I have kids. I would really like something similar in size.
I also like the min pin but worry about their activity level, are they ever lap dogs?
I also like the pug but my husband doesn't want one because his brother and wife have 3 (and he doesn't want to copy them) and the shih tzu that was BRED to be a companion but again hubby doesn't want a very furry dog.

I really don't want something that is extremely yappy or snippy.

Any suggestions?

Wanted to add that my kids are young but well behaved.

How about a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel? I am planning on getting one this fall or winter. Or a Miniature Schnauzer. We have had 3 so far and are great dogs.

I have a yorkiepoo a designer breed I rescued shes small very small. no sheding or yapping. shes a lap dog totally. Last night I got a Boston terrier. I have a friend with one and hers is a lap dog too. Ive always heard they are good companions.

I would have to say probably a Jack Russell Terrier, Yorkie or Pomeranian. Great Dogs!!!
