I love Pit Bulls, not Pitt as in American Pit Bull Terriers. They are great dogs when properly bred and raised. My name is after my favorite male Champion Venom. They are very misunderstood because of all the myths and misconceptions out there. Too many breeders who don't know what they are doing and too many uneducated owners.

I love all breeds of dogs. It is not their fault that money minded people interbreed and inbreed them.

I'm not sure what interbreed means. Inbreed is obvious. Although what does that have to do with anything? Many of todays best APBTs (and other breeds) are linebred and inbred. Some breeds wouldn't even exist today if it wasn't for the inbreeding done in the past. Breeder don't do this for money and I don't see how that ads up to making more $$. I've paid the same for outcrossed, linebred/inbred dogs. Its done to preserve traits. Its not just done in dogs but in other animals as well. I think you need to research the pedigree of purebred animals.

Currently on the search for a GOOD horse. This is one I've looked at.
Paradise Paso Fino Horses Information and Sale Horses

APBTs have a bad reputation mainly because of stupid careless owners. Now that isn't their fault. They are the victims too. They are also the victims of careless breeders. However I'm pretty sure the majority of bad APBTs are from someone scatterbred byb trash breeding. These people then in turn sell the dogs to idiots. So the bad breeding/raising combo spell disaster.

Did you know that your beloved Labrador has a much higher bite statistic than the PBT?

Default Well This Is What I Think...

Hello,
Well I believe that Pit Bulls are incredibly misunderstood. They are great when they are raised from a pup from being people friendly. Although they get grumpy and snappy with other dogs, what other dog doesnt? Heaps of other dogs do the same to people and things like a pitbull does. I believe they are a incredibly magnificent breed of dog... but I love all dogs so...yea.

Good Luck finding out what other people think and I would get one from a pup if I were you so then you can train it and make it people friendly for when it gets older.

Tiana...

Default I like Pits!

I like Pit Bulls too! My boyfriend's family had two (one just put to sleep) and his friends have pit bulls too. When we first started dating I was nervous about his dogs because I thought they were mean. While getting to know them, I know think they are the nicest and energetic dogs. They are tons of fun! My boyfriend now wants to get one of his own and I'm excited. I can't help though thinking in the back of my mind about the danger. When I tell people we might get a pitt my they warn me that one day they can just strike, or how you have to be extremely careful, or the famous, "ewwww." Anyone else get this reaction when talking about pit bulls?

Does anyone know of a source that I can show stats on dog attacks or something to prove that pit bulls are not as bad as portrayed in the media?

a friend of mine has a beautiful red female that loves to ride around in the back of his truck. Every time he stops by she cannot wait for me to come over so she can slobber kisses all over my face. She is the most gentle and affection dog I have seen. Over the weekend I was at the tire store next to my vets office waiting for a couple tires to be put on my car so wandered over to the parking lot of my vet. A lady had a huge 7 month old blue American Pit Bull. This guy weighed 80lbs. He was just as loving as the female my friend owned.
Pet Pitbull - Find the Pit Bull
A friend came across this, I have not seen it here but was a true story picked up and carried in one of the dog magazine's. Maybe if these people had read this first?

Here is a story I am going to tell which I read in this months issue of Dog Fancy magazine.. I will warn you it is a tear jerker, but deserves to be told..

Tahoe was a therapy dog and often paid visits to a certain little boy in a childrens hospital who was fighting leukemia. Tahoe usually visited on certain days of the week. One morning the little boy asked his nurse if he could see Tahoe that day. She told him it wasn't the day for his regular visit. The little boy said "I know, but I really want to see him today. Please call and ask if he can come see me." The nurse called the owner and asked if she was busy. Said for some reason Tommy really wanted to see Tahoe today. The owner agreed and her and Tahoe went to see Tommy. Once there they walked into the room. Tahoe stopped and looked at Tommy who had tears in his eyes. Immediately Tahoe climbed up on the bed and gently laid down beside Tommy. Tommy wrapped his arms around Tahoe and hugged him as tightly as he weakened state could. Tahoe laid his head across Tonmmy's neck. A few moments later Tommy passed away with Tahoe in his arms. Tahoe was a pit bull terrier. When they left the hospital the owner with tears in her eyes and Tahoe with his tail down and looking very sad. A lady across the lot yelled.. "GET THAT MONSTER OUT OF HER, THERE ARE KIDS HERE." The owner simply stopped, turned around and looked at the lady with tears in her eyes and said quietly. " I know, that is why we are here.
The Cocker Spaniel was for many years attributed with more dog bites than any breed in the US. To my knowledge it still leads this list.
