Hi mod, I guess nobody else for years so i will....
I am a proud owner of Aron, a Belgian sheppard malinois.
He is 2 yrs, 3 months old now, i have a lot of problems training him, concidering that he is my first dog.
I am happy to answer any questions about training, even i am not a dog expert, just share my experiences and what worked for us.

Well Malinois are my breed. The Malinois requires a firm but fair handler. They have strong drives. Dutch lines generally make better pets than French lines...French lines need to be worked. I own one of both. They generally dont do well with smaller pets...my one doesnt care for them..my other guy loves to pester them to no end. They must be socialized young from the very start.

Malinois shed profusly...especially if your has a little longer hair than your normal Malinois..so invest in a furminator brush...you will marry it soon enough. I find with Malinois neutering them increases their energy level. So I dont advise neutering this breed until atleast 2 years old. Puppies must be trained out of their bite stage or it will follow them into adult hood..believe me on that one.

They are a very high energy dog and must not only be physically excersised but mentally. So it is recommended you train them to do tricks, track, find etc. Protection training is an awsome out post for mental stimulation. Short sessions etc if you dont plan to go into sporting with them.

Lots of Mals are turned over to SPCA's yearly..many people dont understand the activily and thinking of a Mal until its too late. They are very similar to German Shepherds but 10 times more active. Some people refer to them as maligators...lol
