Question Looking Into Boxers

Hello all!
I just wanted to know if anyone would happen to know a responsible and yet decently priced breeder of boxers? My fiance and I are looking into Boxers for our next pets. With all the puppymills being developed and people having problems with irresponsible breeders, I figured now was a good time to at least start doing some research on all of this. My sibe's almost 6. He's been my only companion for about 3 years. Now he's getting lonely when "mom" isn't home. So I starting looking into getting another companion for him to play with. I've tried to find an adult red/white female but striked out everytime at the local SPCA. That's a long story but has nothing to do with being rejected, just other unexpected circumstances. Anyhow, I'm located in Northeastern Pennsylvania. We will most likely be moving to western Ohio at some point, probably not very soon though. So if anyone knows of anyone or anything? I'd appreciate the feedback. Thanks!

-Brittany

good for you doing the reseach first however I'd rethink the "puppy" part of this if "mom isn't home" means you work all day.

here is some info to help you know the difference

HOW TO RECOGNIZE A REPUTABLE DOG BREEDER

I would get a dog around the same age as the one you have now. there are tons of them in shelters & husky rescues all around you. check out PetFinder.org

Thanks for the advice, although I think I may have mis-worded it. I was looking into a female husky companion. Nothing but strike-outs at our local shelter for probably a year now. Most of the husky-rescues around here require 6-ft fenced in yards and expect you to be home with your pets a lot more than most people with full time jobs can be. My husky isn't neglected in any way. He's happy and healthy. He just gets a little lonely sometimes when we can't be here to play with him. He doesn't jump fences like most huskies do. He's never tried to escape, as huskies are known to do but because the breed is known for it, our rescue groups won't accept anything less, even though my Sibe is indoors at all times unless with us or tied out, as he hates kennels because he finds them too confining. These factors have pretty much ruled out shelter and rescue huskies in our area.
I'm doing research now into Boxers, possibly to find either a female boxer around his age or wait til he passes on and get a pair of boxer puppies. He's only 5 and a half but I figured if I can do the research now and possibly find a good breeder, I'll be more ready when the time comes, even though nothing would prepare me for the loss of Rex. I love him like he's my own child. Even my soon-to-be father in law (whom we live with and wasn't ever really much of a pet person) has loved Rex unconditionally and grown closer to my Sibe than I ever thought he would. By the time Rex passes on, we may be living in Ohio with different jobs that allow me to be home more.
That's my reasoning. Sorry if I didn't make that clear. Thanks again for the advice. I've read the tips on finding a responsible breeder. I was just wondering if anyone knew (knows) of anyone in particular.

Well, i own boxers.. always will, always have. I adopted my first boxer from a puppymill in wisconsin. He came to me through an older lady who just bought him but wasn't ready for the emotional baggage. I came across my second boxer from a lady on puppyfind.com. Her name is Brandy, her website is Boxers and Bostons | Check out Available Pups page! She only breeds about 1ce a year, sometimes only every 18 months. Her father is a DVM and the pups are raised in the seterile environment of the clinic and supervised daily. They are AKC registered and all her dogs are beautiful representitives of the breed. I can send pictures of my dogs, and her parents if you're interested? All pups are fully vaccinated and dewormed and come with a health guarantee. My pup was flown to me. I paid VERY resonable price for shipping and dog. If you'd like price and pictures, email. I have lots more to say about BB! boxer_mom_44@hotmail.com is my email address. I can't wait to tell you more.

I do some small breeding, but i dont plan on having a litter for a few years.. maybe 4. I don't know what your time-frame is. I'm more interested in rescue work than breeding. All my current dogs are altered (hence the 4 years. If i get a few dogs now, it takes 2 years to mature to breeding age sometimes longer) However, there are a few great breed rescues for boxers in WI/MI. Mid Michigan Boxer Rescue (MMBR HOME), Boxers "R" Us and friends (Boxers "R" Us & Friends, Holland, MI: Adoptable Pets: Petfinder), and greenacresboxerrescue.com (located in WI; next to MI). Rescue is a lot more rewarding than raising a litter. Remember, if you need help or more info, please email.

I have a boxer who I absolutely adore! They are great dogs. Extremely loyal but they also are protective! I got my little girl from a shelter. She was originally from a puppymill and we got her when she was 4 months old. At first she was sooo shy but now she is not at all. She gets along with my other 3 dogs and has a great personality! I would look at shelters first but nextdaypets.com can sometimes be a good place to look!

I suggest you check out your local shelters before you buy from any breeders... You might be surprised what you will see in your local shelters...
