Default Golden and Labrador Retrievers?

Hey everyone,

I'm new on here, and I thought that I would something that I had sort of wondered...I know that Golden Retrievers and Labs are usually very friendly with EVERYONE, but if their owner(s) were attacked or in trouble, do you think they would try to protect them? I don't actually have one (I do have a Lab Mix,) but I was actually just wondering that question off the top of my head, because I know that GSDs and Dobermans etc. etc. are very protective. Now, I know that these breeds of dogs were bred for these different characteristics-BUT, do you guys think a Lab or Golden Retriever would be protective of their owners? Anyways, thanks to anyone who answers, and I'm happy to be here! Later.

good question!
iwe have all seen aggressive dogs behind fences.
ive seen a collie mix that protected its house so vigourously i thought when i knocked the door, the door was going to fall out!
would this dog attack me? would it protect its owner in a confrontation on the street away from its own enviroment?this question has to be asked about all breeds, including rotts dobes gsd.
i think that there are individuals in a lot of breeds that would attack to a certain extent,to protect its owners.

I knew a black lab once that protected his house. His owners would tie him outside and if you tried to go on the property...he would go nuts! But he was really sweet when his owners were out with him to assure him that not all people were intruders.

I think labs and goldens can.But as mentioned,it does depend on the individual dog.
