Default THis dog wandered onto my porch today

Can anyone help with what kind of dog this is. I am in NO way a dog person, but my girlfriend and son want one, however my son is allergic to everything with fur. If anyone can figure out what she is, I would appreciate it. Also, if anyone knows of a place I can take her to get checked out for free or little cost, until I find out what she is I would appreciate it it. I live in Lower Bucks County, PA.
Thanks,
Tony

she appears to be a mixed cocker, probably some poodle or shih tzu in there too. someone is worried sick about this dog I would guess. she looks very well cared for.

please call Bucks county SPCA at 215-794-7425 & give them a full found report. they open at 10 but I would call earlier & leave a message. it will be difficult to get through after they open. have them pick the dog up. it is the right thing to do. does she not have any tags on? you can have her checked for a micro chipped at the shelter or most vets will do it

no offense but if you can't afford the dog now you will not be able to afford it in a couple weeks either

the fact that the dog came to you does not mean that you can just keep it or give it to someone.

if you do put any posters up - just put found small dog & no other info on them. well of course your phone #. watch the lost ads in the newspaper in a few days - check for lost flyers

Default Stray

The dog HAS NOT been well cared for and has probably been on the street for a while. Where does it say that I can't afford the dog??? My son is allergic to most breeds, which is why I need to know what she is!
YOU people crack me up, keep your ideas and thoughts to yourselves!!!!!! I called the police and they can't do anything with it! I could have turned back to the street and taken it to the Women's shelter in Bensalem that will KILL her in 5 days.

Next time just answer the question and keep your 2 cents to yourself.

sorry, but you somewhat implied you could not afford the dog in your post.
"Also, if anyone knows of a place I can take her to get checked out for free or little cost". This somewhat gives readers the impression you cannot afford a dog.
In addition, you state you are not a dog person. "I am in NO way a dog person"
By stating this those who are knowledgeable regarding dogs will obviously question how you could know its condition. Dirty does not mean well taken care of.
Before you assume anyone is passing judgment it would probably have helped if you had just re-read your post and included all pertinent information. I have no doubt you care about the dog or you would not have posted in the first place but the post itself leaves readers to assume whether they want to or not since it does not clearly stipulate the steps you may have taken such as calling the police. That was not noted in your original post as would have most likely changed some of the opinions with regards to answers given here and led to less of what you are deeming derogatory remarks. No one is necessarily telling you what to do but pointing out what should be done anytime a stray is found. Do you have a local craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums for your city or community. Many people when they lose dogs will place a notice on the lost and found and pet section on there as it is free for anyone to use and is viewed by a large number of people daily. Before you decide to keep the dog it might be best to find out if in fact someone has lost the dog and what you are seeing is a dog lost which therefore looks bad. Remember what you said, you are not a dog person so it is possible that maybe you are seeing something that really is not what you think. Many of us here work with dog rescue groups so yes we are constantly looking to find owners who have lost their dogs. If it was yours and was in fact lost, would you not want to see it returned. Just asking that you see the situation from all sides without making any assumptions.
