misbehaving min pin My min pin is about 5 1/2 years old. She was very difficult to house train, and never has fully, completely trained. She lets me know when she wants to go outside MOST of the time, but sometimes she goes in my bedroom closet to poop. She had not peed in the house in quite some time, until about a month and a half ago when my husband was traveling, I found pee in my bedroom closet, and then a day or two later, pee on the carpet just as you walk into my bedroom. Also, whenever it rains she will not go outside to use the bathroom, but rather she pees on her blanket in her kennel overnight, which is where she sleeps every night. We used to let her sleep with us or our boys, but she would get up and roam the house, pee and/or poop in the house, get into trash cans, so we had to start putting her in her kennel at night. She is also very, very aggressive around her food bowl. Our veterinarian told us right from the start to make sure we trained her by putting our hand in her food bowl while she was eating, which seemed to work just fine. But now she has digressed. She is very, very protective of her food bowl when there is food in it. She will go sit by her bowl and just guard over it, and gets shaky and seemingly nervous when any one of us walks by. Nothing traumatic has happened in her life. We've never, ever deprived her of her food. I know these breeds are hyper, but why would she just start doing all these "bad" behaviors after some years? We got her at eight weeks old and have had her ever since. Any help or enlightenment is appreciated. |
