before.jpgCan anyone tell me what kind of dog this is? I got him from the Humane Society and they weren't sure.

My best guess from what I can see in the photo, is retriever and maybe collie mix. The face, head look to me as a retriever the colloring is collie. Nice looking dog!

I'm going to guess German Shepherd and possibly Rough Collie (Lassie-type). With those shelter dogs, it can be crazy tough trying to figure out what breeds they are. I know that there is a DNA test available to see what breeds are present in your dog. It's not too expensive (like $85 or something) and you just mail in the results to a lab, get them back, and they'll tell you what breeds were present in your dog's DNA. I read about it in Dog Fancy a couple of months ago. By the way, someone did a nice smooth shave down on him!

I found this in a search engine. This is almost exactly what he looks like when he has his long hair. If I can figure out this breed of dog I can know at least what he's mixed with. 06.jpg

He's got a mane like an Akita. May be mixed with that. Large like a St Bernnard. Happy hunting!

I can tell you right now, Its a Mix between a German Sheppard and a Collie. My friend has a dog just like it. Trust me its what I said.

If I had to make a guess, I'd probably go with German Shepherd & Mastiff.
