Default Lab/Boxer mix

Has anyone ever had (or have) a lab/boxer mix?

Our puppy Jack is a lab/boxer mix, we got him at 7 weeks and he is now 11 weeks. Our vet thinks he will be around 85-100lbs! We were thinking more like 60-70 so I was just wondering if anyone had this mix and how big they were?

When we got him he was 7lbs, 2 weeks later at his first vet appt he was 15lbs already and his paws are huge!

Everywhere we go people think he is a black lab, but when they get closer they see the boxer in his face.

This pic was taken when he was 8 weeks, he looks SO different now, I really need to get a new pic, he is a ton bigger.

i heard they can be very big... that's why im not fond of their breed... not because i dont like them because no one can take care of 60-70 lbs dog here in our home except me... My mom cant take care a dog that big...

I just got a 6 week old lab/boxer mix. I am going to say she will end up around 80lbs. The lab was huge! Does yours have double dew claws on the back? She goes for her needles on Friday so I will see how much she weighs then.

Default I have had a "Boxedore" for 9 years now.

My dogs name is Hoover and his mother was full boxer and his father was full black lab. He looks much like your puppy but has some white on his feet. I would "strongly" suggest having his tail docket. I didn't and have regreted it from the beginning. Their tails are like "Whips" and actually really hurt especially children when hit. I don't think they have and pain sensors in the tail at all! Hoover has been the best dog I have ever had. I had boxers as a child and Labs when I married. This has to be the best mix of all breeds! He is developing a hip problem which I am sure is genetic. I don't know what i will do when his time comes to go. That is the only sad thing about owning and loving a dog, they just don't live as long as we do. Good luck with your puppy and get ready for some serious chewing! Hoover ate the front of my new leather chair at about three for four months old!

To start off what a beautiful pup he is, I had a female black lab/boxer mix she got to 75 pounds her brother was 90 pounds, the males are always bigger in this kind of mix the first sign is big paws. They are such a great mix but need lots of attention. Hope this helps you a little any more question please get back. Rich

Question Lily

I have to say that I was doing some research on Black Lab/boxer mixes and was surprised to come across this site and see Jack. He looks just like our Lily. I was actually on here to see just how big she was going to get. She was 12 pounds at 7 weeks. She is so energetic and cute. I was wondering if anyone else noticed that their mix nips a lot. I have a 4 year old and I know that kids can be a bit much for the puppy sometimes. But, I notice her nipping at everything. She is very friendly its just when she gets excited she nips. Any feedback would be helpful!

Do not have his tail docked. That his horrible advice. Tail docking is done at just a few days old when the tail is still cartilage and not bone. Past a few weeks old, then its a tail AMPUTATION and requires a painful surgery.

Red face I love my Lab/Boxer mix

brutus hanging out.jpg This is my Brutus at 10 weeks old. I got my pup at 8 weeks old and he was already 17 lbs and had huge paws. He is a big baby. We got him from a local pound and they had the whole litter and was the only one not picked. He sleeps in bed with me and my hubby and he is excellent with our children even our 7 month old. If any mix breed was the best it would be this. They have such great attitudes and learn very easy. When we got our Brutus he didn't know sit stay or anything and in less then 2 weeks he knew it all. He knows his place in the house and thats our baby. He gets quite goofy at times and he loves to run. Thank heavens for a fenced in back yard because he loves new people and he loves when friends come to visit. The only thing we are still working on is him not jumping on people when they walk in the house but that will take some time since he is only 16 weeks old. My vet told me the same thing but she said with his build and the way he has already grown she wouldn't be shocked if he reached 110.

Smile Lab/Boxer Mix

I just drove 45 min to get this sweet puppy. Tha man I got her from said I was not sure what she was out side of lab. His female lab had gotten out of the yard and was gone three days and when she came back she started to eat alot and got a big belly. She then later had her puppies ( a litter of 11 ) I was the lucky one to get the only girl. I took her to the vet and found out she was lab/boxer mix and she looks it. She loves the kids and my other lab.

Unhappy i had a lab/boxer ..

Well abt 5 years ago me & my family got a lab/boxer puppie called darkie. He was adorabe and was really hiper-active. He was also really clever, he could open doors and chuck the ball over the wall for the kids and even take his dinner bowl outside amoungst other things. He was a great natured dog and everyone loved him, bt last October we found lumps under his neck and within a week later he was diagnosed with cancer. After 5 months of treatment, he was not the same dog he started to change not only in appearence bt his attitude to everything did too. In February this year he was put to sleep, even though i miss him lots it was for the best.

I think lab/boxer's are beautiful and are some of the best natured dogs, even though i lost Darkie, it wouldnt put me of getting another.

Default Moxie

I have a boxer lab mix, and he is about 1 year old. He weighs about 50 pounds and is slightly smaller than a lab in stature. He is an adorable addition to my home and I hope you enjoy so much happiness with yours. I would think that since your puppy is growing so quickly that he will be about 60 pounds in the end, so I wish you luck with your little bundle of joy.

Nipping is a problem for every breed of puppy. She just needs to learn bite inhibition. It will take a lot of training and consistency but once she learns she will be the perfect little puppy. Good luck with the training.
