Question Can you help me identify the breed of our new puppy?

We rescued our puppy from the Humane Society of Sedona and they told us they thought he was a black lab. However, he has a curly tail, he ears fold over and stick out the the side, and he is quite stocky. He is black with a white chest and both back paws have two toes each that are white. He is four months old and weighs about 15 lbs. People have suggested chow, but he does not have any black spots on his tongue. His name is Tonka, and he is very smart and so lovable he'll just curl up in our arms. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what other breeds he might be mixed with?

what a cute puppy!

i'd say husky/ lab mix over chow/ lab mix. the husky mixes that i've seen at work tend to have ears like that, and the eyes have a bit of a husky look as well. there are tons of breeds that have curly tails, but huskies and pugs are the more common ones, and there really isnt any pug anywhere other than the tail.

it'll be much easier to tell what he's mixed with when he's older, once you can see his full size and build.

hope that helped!

I'm thinking more along the lines of a shepherd / lab mix. Google "german shepherd Lab".

I'd definetly say there is some akita in him. Maybe akita/lab mix of some sort.
