Who here has a dog that sleeps with it's eyes open? And what breed is it?

The reason I ask is, I've heard of greys that do it. Also, the staghound we fostered did, and our borzoi does too. I haven't read anything about dogs other than greys doing it.

Do other breeds of dog tend to do this? Or just sighthounds?

What your seeing could be the extra eyelid dogs have. Its kind of clearish and when some dogs doze it covers their eyes.

My mom's Yorkie sleeps with her eyes half-open. All you can see is the whites of her eyes; it's really creepy! She also sleeps on her back, all spread-eagle, and snores and twitches the whole time. It's a wonder she sleeps at all. I'd think she'd wake herself up with all the noise she makes!

I observe my dogs (shih tzu)...I didn't see that they slip with it's eyes open...maybe because their hairs covered their eyes...
