Unless you have a friend who is a breeder, and they have puppies, or you find one at the shelter, you will have to pay a heavy price for a healthy, genetically sound dog from a reputable breeder. To buy a "cheaper" dog would necessitate the use of a "puppy mill" or "back yard breeder" which are both not advisable sources. When you want a pure breed dog, you should always go to a reputable breeder, and unfortunately thier prices can run anywhere between $800.00 per pup or more, depending on the breed, their bloodlines and what it took to breed their bitch. I would advise checking out the local shelters for a dog that will fit your home. Good luck.
