I was looking at goldendoodles but decided that paying 1800.00 for a mixed dog was not for me, so yesterday we took in a 1/2 American Stafforshire terrier and 1/2 red nose pit, I was worried at first because I have a 3 yr old daughter and a 3 mth old daughter and have only heard bad things about pitts, the puppy is preciuos though and her owner was just gonna drop her at the pound, and I just could'nt let that happen. So she is only 6 weeks old becuase her mean owner did'nt want to deal with pups anylonger I told him then take your female and get her fixed, moron! Sorry but things lie that infuruate me. We we are calling her Blue Bell, and I am hoping some people will give me some advice on these breeds and tell me there experineces with these dogs and children Thanks!

I won a staffi & she is fabulous plenty of energy & When she gets a little older she will keep your kids very busy lol.
In my opinion Staffi's are the softest dogs I have ever meet, my dog would rather lick me to death than ever bite me lol.
Hopefully this side comes out instead of the pitpull.
I must say if the staffi side comes out she will need alot of attention & she will become like another toddler in the house.
This is my personal experience with owning a Staffi hope that helps & puts your mind at ease a bit with the pitbull side.
Even though half Pitbull you do have 1/2 staffi which is a excellent dog & have excellent personalities.

Excuse me how rude can you be, that was totally uncalled for.
For one Ive never heard of them Banning staffi's what country is this in? As it's certainly not in mine.
And two Staffi's are great dogs & like I SAID this is from my own personal experience & I was DESCRIBING the experience I have had with MY STAFFI.
So dont you dare be rude to me about telling me I dont know what I am on about I have first hand experience with STAFFI's I didnt say Pitbulls were great because I DONT KNOW.
As he said he had 1/2 staffi I thought I would give him a idea about the experience I have had.
So in future think before you reply.

We had a few problems here in the UK some years ago, and several breeds of dog were classed as dangerous and called to be muzzled.
I don't know how the land lies at the minute with that, but I'm sure American Pit Bulls were one of the breeds involved.
I owned staffies for years, and at one time had five. These, were of course the English version, which is a little smaller than the American Staffie.
They are lovely dogs. I never had any trouble with any of mine. But, as with all dogs, I would never leave them with children on their own. This I would apply to any breed. Toddlers tend to poke and pull and you don't know how a dog will react.
Thing is, that with any fighting breed, if they do get into a squabble they tend to do the job right. No half measures. And it is irresponsible owners who are either unaware or don't care what their dogs are capable of, that cause the problems for the rest of the responsible dog owners.
My oldest staffie was fifteen and a half when he died. Not bad going. He was a grand boy!

Yeah I have a english staffi but the personalitys between american & english arnt different really.
Im sorry but I must have a wimp of a dog lol she's even scared of cats & shes taken a few blows from them lol.
The other day a staffi puppy had a go for my dog and she ran away.
Shes either very smart and knows not to fight or a total wimp lol.
Either way I love it that she doesnt want to fight, as we didnt bring her up that way.
Also I know loads of satffi owners and there dogs seem as mellow as mine & they say they've never had any problems with them being aggressive. I think the reputation for Staffi's is improving as they are fun loving dogs with loadsof playful energy & any staffi owner who has not breed there dog to fight will know this is what makes them great dogs!

I think American Staffi's are wonderful Dogs I've had many years experience with them. All though you do get the odd one or two which are not so friendly.
One day we were at our local shelter to see what dog we could give a good life to, when we lived at our old house we took several rescue dogs in.
Anyway we seen this very beautiful American Staffi he was a lush tan with white paws, I couldnt get enough of him & he seem to of taken to us quite well I felt so sorry for the chap when we heard about his background & previous owners.
So we went to adopt him straight away but unfortunatly we couldnt as he came from the same area as which we had recently moved to. It was terrible I cried as I feel in love with him & wanted to give him the best, I hope that he has now found a loving family & that they are taking care of him.

Thanks dalshep,
I am still showing her.I'm hoping to finish her UKC CH this weekend.
I am also working on her Obed titles and Agility titles. Then when she is over two I will try weight pull.I'm going for a super dog on her.
In AKC they are American Staffordshire Terriers and in UKC they are American Pit Bull Terriers. They all started out as APBT and then AKC changed the name to AST.
Some people show the same dog in both AKC,and UKC.So some times it's an AST, and other times it's a APBT.
Again same dog different name.

American Pit Bull Terriers (Pit Bulls) are NOT bad dogs. At least not here in the US, like they try to make them out to be. I have a Pit Bull/Lab mix male & 2 Pit Bull females. They all get along really well & they also get along great with children. They USED to be bred for fighting. But a lot of breeders are getting away from that now. They were NEVER bred for being human agressive. In fact, they were bred to be the most loyal & gentle dogs towards people. If you do enough research on the breed, you'll find that out. Most of them aren't even good guard dogs. LOL Some are. My 1 female is a great guard dog. The other 2 would let an intruder walk right in! They are excelent dogs if they are raised right & socialized well.
