Default Shiba Inu?

My husband and I are looking at getting a Shiba Inu. Our only question is, how well do this breed get a long with other dogs? We read that they can get aggressive with other dogs of the same sex, we have a 9 month old miniature schnauzer and we were wondering if there would be problems with the 2 of them together. BTW they would both be male. Anyone have any advice? Our schnauzer is very easy going. Thanks in advance!!!

Wow! You're getting a Shiba Inu? They're really hard to find here in Mexico!

Anyway, I don't know if Shiba Inu are an exception, but I think that if the dog you're getting is a puppy, it should get along well with a well-adapted older dog. Since your schnauzer is easy going, I don't see why they shouldn't get along together.
I think you might have to worry more about your schnauzer being jealous of the new arrival than of the puppy being aggressive towards your dog.
If the Shiba is older or as old as your schnauzer, then it may make it harder for them to get along.
Hope this helps!

you should know how to socialize a dog like that. doing activity like playing with your pets can help develop bonds between them and how to socialize with other dogs.

Generally, Shiba Inus need a LOT of socialization and training from an early age for them to be accepting of other dogs. They feel an absolute NEED to be dominant, and have been known to test their owners daily to try to gain dominance in the "pack". The first poster is right, they can also be incredibly stubborn and headstrong with training.
