| The only fencing I've ever found that works for my Akita's is a 6ft privacy fence.I know of several people who have used electronic fencing and their dogs have gone right through it.

| I love Akitas, they are just gorgeous dogs!
I have only ever owned one, and Unfortunately it was a bad experiance. We adopted an Akita from our local shelter. He was a sweet and loving dog, until the day he bit my son in the face! My son got very lucky and didnt lose an Eye, and has only a couple visible scars. We gave the dog a second chance, as the reason he bit, was because my son accidentally stepped on his foot. About a month later, and we all thinking thongs were going so well, the dog attacked my nephew while he was sleeping for no reason, and left horrendous damage to him arm. I dont blame the dog, cause i am sure he was not taken care of properly be fore he ended up in the shelter. I would love to someday own another one, but definitely not till my kids no longer live with me.

It seems that these sorts of fences really only work for some dogs depending on the nature of the animal, I have heard of one story that went the other way and that an onwer of a dog had a hell of the time getting the dog out of the yard for a walk, the dog just would be to scared to pass the boundry even if they were not going to get zapped.

Bloody idiot human dog owners........that first owner should be shot.......then when all this sort of stuff happens those of us trying to do the right thing end up getting caught in all this horrid Breed Specific Legislation. BSL i recon should mean Ban Stupid Loosers from owning a dog.
