Hi there - since I got great leads on what my puppy, Nike is on this site - I'm gonna try to see if someone can help me pin point what my 11 1/2 year old dog, Dottie's mixture is. She's the greatest - obedient and very smart. But for 11 years, I've really had no idea what she is! I got her from the SPCA, and I forgot what cross they said she was. Any ideas? Thanks!

OMG she looks like a medio Podengo-or Corgi mix.

Ya see.........I rescued what was told to me to be a chihuahua BUT I knew my dog was not a chi being as I had 2 others- anywho long story short someone told me about the Podengo and after much research and asking a dog show judge etc they said she did look like one. Now mind you she might still be mixed but I since met another Full bred Podengo owner (via internet) and her dog and mine look so much alike. So when that breed test I am getting done on my other dog lists that breed I am gonna go get it done- but based on personality etc I am saying mine is one.

No way she's a Smooth Podengo Medio. There are less than 20 of them in the US and that's only in the past 6 yrs. Who did you meet online?
I know pretty much everyone who has the Medios (the real ones, not the so-called Podengo mutts that are all over the NE) and as Eddie Murphy once said, 'it waddn't me.'

Dog show judges have only started to see them in person this year! And that's only at scant few matches we've done with them.

I have had the Wirehaired Medios (pronounced 'mee-dee-oh') for 5 but got interested in them about 16 yrs ago.

She is most definitely a collie mix (smooth collie). Esp if she's nice! if she was a Podengo Medio she would have killed another dog by now!
They are NOT the nicest (to other dogs) breed in the world.

I see a lot of Corgi in her face, but her body is very shepard like. Either way she's a Class A Cutie Pie!

Wow, it's neat to hear the feedback of what mix my Dottie could be. In the past I've heard she also could be a Basenji mix, and I started to believe it because Basenji's are "barkless" dogs, and Dottie always howls, rather than barks, she's always got her nose in the air saying, "Woo Woo Woo Woo Woo", LOL, for any kind of attention, but no barking! Then someone told me she looks a lot like a fawn colored Border Collie? Another told me she could be mixed with a Catahoula hound? I would love to continue to hear the feedbacks. She is so great with our lil Rat-Chi puppy, Nike,I mean she'll play growl with him while they are playing but Dottie never closes down her jaws. And she's actually gotten okay with letting Nike drink out of the same bowl with her at the same time sometimes!

my ***mutt*** Podengo howls too- its very cool.......I hope that test gets that breed on their list sometime in the future

Hmmm im not sure what breed it has...

She is definetly mixed with a Corgi and who knows? Maybe a Corgi and a Fox Hound?
