Looking for other opinions...
My girlfriend and I recently adopted a gorgeous puppy that we've named Hayden. The problem is we aren't sure what he is exactly. We got him from a family that had found him abandoned and starving, and nursed him to health. They couldn't keep him because of their landlord, we were just lucky enough to find them. They thought he was a lab/pit mix, I'm pretty sure that hes a lab/boxer mix. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks

That's definitely a boxer-- I don't see any pit in him at all. He's a good looking boy. You're right; you're lucky to have found the people who found him.

I agree with everyone else--looks like pure boxer to me too. Had a purebred boxer many years ago--called him Luke---dog before him was a mix and he was called Zeke ('seek and look') And I agree also that you are lucky to get such a 'fine' dog in the way that you did! Happy for you--and the dog!

I dont think he's a pure boxer by any means. If he is than he was from VERY bad breeding. But he is a mix def.
Im on another forum thats for boxer's only. Its boxercrazy.org We would love to have you post there too!

I really don't think hes a pure boxer, I know its hard to see from the pictures I posted but hes does not have the nose or mouth of a boxer at all. maybe these will help...
Either way I'm happy I found this forum, as this is our first dog any information is helpful and Ive found plenty here. Thanks again!

After seeing those last 2 pics---I've changed my mind--you are right--he is a mix--now I'm probably almost as curious as you are but it is part boxer I am pretty sure of that----No matter, he looks like a 'cool' dog anyway and it would be nice to know what else he is for health reasons, etc. And being a mix--he is probably healthier! But you will love the 'guy' no matter what he is!
One more thing, lol ! I can remember w/the boxer I had---at least w/out a boxer face--you will not get all that slobber they can fling when they shake their head!

After seeing those pics I agree he is a mix.
But definately boxer.
Maybe boxer/lab mix
Or could he have some Aussie or Collie in him (His side profile reminds me of some Aussie mixes I've seen and Some border collie mixes I've seen)
Just a thought
Still beautiful dog

He is an adorable little guy. However, as a boxer lover, owner, breeder, and enthusiast, i can tell you he is definately not a boxer. He doesn't even look like a boxer mix. He's real blocky and his muzzle is too long.
The ONLY thing that would make me remotely connect any hint of boxer in him would be his ears and eyes (at a stretch). The tawny/fawn this puppy displays is not typically a boxer color either. This light creamy fawn and white markings (with little black outlining on the face) characterize that of an APBT, not a boxer. A boxers coloring (fawn) is darker, sometimes mahogony, and a good breeding shouldn't produce "butterscotch" coats.
It's just not a typical fawn in boxers. He is just adorable though, i would go as far to say all his characteristics point to APBT. Beautiful boy, congratulations!

Yes that is true statement of someone who is breeding GOOD looking boxers. But I've seen plenty of "butterscotch" boxers from BYBS. I have one myself. I dont exactly know where she came from but she is a pure boxer, has a longer snout than normal, and is a butterscotch color.

Yes, the boxer is one of the most noticable breeds for its sloppy breedings. Because of the strict standard of conformation and temperment, a sloppy breeding is something that stands out like red marker on paper. Muzzles most notibly. Boxers have been bred by the wrong people looking for the wrong thing (either the money or a misinterpretation of the standard given) and it's only been as crippling to the boxer breed as the reputation given to ABPT. It's misrepresented and not the typical breed's standard.
Good breeders look at temperment, health, and conformation. All medical tests should be done (especially hearts and thyroids for boxers) before breeding to ensure genetically well-off puppies.
A lot of BYBs breed boxers because they're a "popular family dog" and are 'sure to sell'. While they're cute and quirky personalities tug at people's hearts, i beg potential puppy buyers to adopt from rescue or do extensive research on the breeders you've selected to buy a puppy from. Boxers can have many medical problems if bred poorly and irresponsibly, so do the research on the breeder or rescue.
Wow.. i just turned this into a lecture. My apologies! I just get going and there's no stopping it! :\

I don't see Pitt Bull in this gorgeous guy. I agree that he is probably labXboxer. He definitely has the boxer ears!

I really don't see Pit, but maybe Bull Terrier. However, the first breed that popped into my head when I looked at the pics was Great Dane mix. Maybe Great Dane/Bull Terrier? He's pretty leggy, and it looks like he has those Dane feet; blocky and upright. Bull Terrier in the mix would account for the smaller ears. He also seems to have a fair amount of fill under the eyes, and while he doesn't have the Bull Terrier "down face", he doesn't have a whole lot of stop, like you'd see in most Boxer mixes.
He isn't just fawn & white, he's a fawn smut, meaning he'd have a darker mask if he didn't have all that white on his face. The mask is common in fawn & red Bull Terriers, and is seen in Danes, too. There aren't a lot of other breeds that have the mask.
How big is he?
